Yes, you can. However, to effect lasting behavioral change, mountains of evidence prove that three dimensions of human nature must experience change: 1. thought/feeling (psychology), 2. behavior (biology, life style, etc.), and 3. motivation (self-concept, values, spirituality) Like a three-legged stool, each of these dimensions or "legs" is interdependent or intertwined with the other, and the "stool of change" will fail if one is left out. Token short-term changes inevitably lead to the despair of continued relapse into old behavior.
Each leg is done sequentially, and has new thoughts and behaviors that require practice. Like learning to ride a bicycle, if you quit the first time you fall, you will never learn how to ride. In the same way, your full commitment to complete all three legs is essential to effect lasting change.
Why charge a fee? The time-tested adage "the fee is a part of the therapy" still holds true, and those who are serious will expect to pay for a professional level of treatment.
